The Ford Transit Connect is classified as a compact panel van or compact Minivan derived from the Ford Focus by Ford Europe. It has a starting MSRP of $24,655 and can get up to 24 MPG (miles per gallon) in the city and up to 29 MPG on the highway. The Transit Connect comes with either a 2.0 L 4-cylinder or 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine and has a seating capacity of 2 or 6 depending on the body style. Body styles include the Cargo Van and the Wagon. The van has been in the North American market since about 2010 and has competition from the Ford Aerostar Cargo Van but Aerostar discontinued production in 1997. The Connect is often confused with the Ford Transit, a light commercial vehicle used primarily as a cargo van, passenger van or minivan. The Ford Transit Connect was awarded "North American Truck of the Year 2010" at the North American International Auto Show and "Van of the Year 2004" by Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine. The first generation of the Transit Connect was produced from 2002 to 2013 and the second generation was introduced in 2014 to present day.
