The midsize SUV is based on the Kubang concept car that debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, and built by Maserati at the Mirafiori factory in Turin, Italy starting in 2016. The Maserati Levante is produced and assembled at Maserati's Turin plant. It first went on sale in Europe in May of 2016, and in North America in September of 2016. The concept car that led to the creation of the Levante, the Maserati Kubang, was first debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2011. The Levante was then debuted in March of 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, and then again at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
