It has a towing capacity of 1,500 to 3,450 pounds and comes with either a 2.5 L 4-cylinder or 3.0 L V6 engine. The Tribute has a tire size of: P235/70R16 and comes with either a 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. The compact SUV is available in four different configurations. These configurations include the i Sport, i Touring, i Grand Touring, and the s Grand Touring. It was jointly developed with Ford Motor Company and based on the front-wheel drive Mazda 626 platform, which was in turn the basis for the similar Ford Escape on the CD2 platform. The SUV had been priced below the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner in Ford's CD2 SUV lineup. The Tribute first made its debut in 2000 and offered front wheel drive (FWD) or all wheel drive (AWD) and a choice of a transversely mounted 2.0 L Ford Zetec 4-cylinder engine or 3.0 L Ford Duratec V6. In North America, the Tribute was replaced by the Mazda CX-5.
