It went on sale in Japan in October of that year, followed by in North America in December of that same year. It is the first mid-size Suzuki automobile sold in the Australian market. Suzuki announced in 2013 that the car would gradually be discontinued from global markets, and that it would not get a successor. In 2014, production of the Kizashi came to an end. Its name meant "something great is coming," "omen," or "sign" in Japanese.
