The Ford Windstar, later renamed as the Ford Freestar, is a Minivan Family Caravan by the Ford Motor Company that was in production between the model years of 1994 - 2007. The Ford Freestar/Windstar was the only second minivan designed by Ford and signaled a transition from RWD Rear Wheel Drive to FWD Front Wheel Drive. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Windstar a 5 star rating in both side and front impact tests. J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study awarded the 2005 Ford Freestar 2nd place, only beaten by the Dodge Caravan.
